The two 18,600 dwt tankers are currently under construction. The shipowner is Sweden's Ektank Shipping Company. The company hopes that the shaft generator set using permanent magnet technology can reduce the operating cost of the ship, improve environmental performance and overall operational efficiency.
Mika Koli, Business Development Manager of Switch, said, “Our modular, flexible and lightweight permanent magnet shaft generator sets can help shipowners achieve their desired goals and achieve real savings and efficiency improvements. In the shipbuilding industry, we have a huge market. Potential, shipowners like Ektank decided to invest in our permanent magnet machinery products, demonstrating our trust in us, and this is just the beginning of the ship's energy revolution."
Prior to this, Switch also received a contract from WE Tech in November 2016 to supply permanent magnet shaft generator sets for two 15,000 dwt tonnage ro-ro ships of Toll Shipping. Since entering the ship market for the first time in 2013, Switch has received more than 30 permanent magnet shaft generator technology orders.
