On November 10, 2011, Douglas Power Co., Ltd. of the United States signed a contract with Shenyang Detongqiao Machinery Equipment Co., Ltd. to jointly invest and build China's largest snow-dropping vehicle and equipment production base in Shenbei New District, Shenyang City.
Douglas Power Co., Ltd. is the largest supplier of snow-removing vehicles and equipment in North America and even in the world, integrating research, development, production and sales. The main products are energy-efficient snow blowers and environmentally friendly spreaders. The company's proprietary Shun Tong and other three famous snow removal equipment brands enjoy a high reputation in the industry.
Shenyang Deqiao Bridge Machinery Equipment Co., Ltd. is mainly engaged in the sales of imported machinery and equipment. It has a large market share in the ice and snow industry in Northeast China. In particular, the sales of snow removal machinery ranks first in China. The two parties set up a joint venture plant in the Shenbei New District, investing a total of US$40 million to develop, manufacture, and sell vehicles and equipment for snow removal. It plans to start construction in March 2012 and complete it by the end of 2012.
It is understood that Shenyang City attaches great importance to the development of special vehicles, especially high-end special vehicles. At present, the city has 8 passenger car manufacturers and 17 special vehicle manufacturers. In the first nine months of 2011, the total vehicle production in the city reached 520,000, of which 6,000 were for special vehicles. Due to geographical and climate reasons, snow removal vehicles have a large market demand in Shenyang and even in Northeast China. Take Shenyang as an example. The total snow removal area within the Third Ring Road is 61.4 million square meters, of which the specialized snow removal area is 14 million square meters. There are 10 snowfalls, the average annual snowfall is 30mm, and the snow removal workload is heavy.
At present, there are 803 snow-removing machinery and equipment in Shenyang City, of which 249 snow-throwing vehicles and 176 snow-melting agents are scattered. The number of existing snow-removing machinery and equipment is far from meeting the demand for huge snow removal. Shenyang will gradually increase its investment in equipment. It plans to purchase more than a hundred sets of multi-functional snow removal machinery, snow melting agents, and snow-sweeping vehicles in the next few years. It will continue to increase the level of mechanized snow removal operations, reduce the labor intensity of manual snow removal operations, and improve urban management.
