Pickup headlamp evaluation results are not satisfactory

Recently, the U.S. Highway Safety Insurance Association conducted some tests on the size pickups on the U.S. market. Test results showed that 11 out of 11 pickup headlights were unqualified.

The association said that only the headlamp evaluation of the 2017 Honda Ling pickup truck was excellent. Another large scale pickup 2016-17 Universal Sierra's evaluation results are still within the acceptable range. 2017 Nissan Titan and 2016 Ram 1500 are only on the margin.

2016-17 Test results for Chevrolet Silverado, 2016-17 Ford F-150 and 2016-17 Toyota Express failed.

Including the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, 2016 General Canyon, 2016 Nissan Trailblazer and 2016-17 Toyota Tacoma, the evaluation of the four small pickups were all unqualified.

Matthew Brumbelow, a senior research engineer at the association, said that before testing the performance issues of pickup headlights, we also evaluated the performance of medium-sized cars and SUV series models.

Brumbelow said in his speech: “These latest ratings are very different from those obtained by other agencies. The safety of automobiles has been substantially improved in recent years, but these necessary equipment have been ignored by everyone.”

The Insurance Association stated that of the 11 pickups it tested, a total of 23 headlights were combined, which led to a lower rating for headlights due to the glare of light.

The association also stated that in the future, the performance of headlamps will be used as the basis for awarding the “most safe truck”. In order to get the 2017 "Safest Truck" award, automakers need to improve on headlamps.

The association found that in July, less than one-hundred twenty-one small-scale SUVs had achieved excellent grades in headlamp evaluation, and more than half of the models were unqualified in the evaluation.

In the evaluation in July, only the 2017 Ford Maverick, 2016 Honda CRV, Hyundai Tucson, and Mazda CX-3 scored within a good range. The evaluation results of the other five models are only on the qualifying edge. They are the 2016 BMW X1, Toyota RAV4 and Mazda CX-5. Volkswagen Tiguan and Mitsubishi Outlander.

Among them, 12 SUVs were unqualified, including 2017 Kia Sportage, 2016 Audi Q3, Jeep Renegade, Buick Enkela, Jeep Wrangler, Chevrolet Creo, Fiat 500X, Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, Honda HRV, and Nissan Rogue. , Jeep Patriot and Subaru Forester.
