China's automotive electronics market has huge potential

The automotive industry in mainland China is experiencing rapid growth, with a wide range of electronics manufacturers playing a key role. Companies such as Asustek, VIA, Lite-On, Hon Hai (Foxconn), Yisheng, MiTAC, Quanta, and Compal are increasingly active in the Western automotive electronics market, particularly in the global satellite navigation system (GPS) sector, which is seen as highly promising. According to a recent report, the Association of Electro-Electronics has formed the "Automobile Electronics Industry Alliance" with the goal of creating a dialogue platform between industry players and integrating the value chain of automotive electronics. Xu Shengxiong, who led a delegation to Guangzhou, emphasized the importance of establishing common standards across the Taiwan Strait. By enabling manufacturers to use either Taiwan or mainland Chinese auto factories as testing grounds, they can accumulate experience and achieve successful market practices. This collaboration could lead to a cooperative model with major international car manufacturers, helping to commercialize key products and gradually integrate into the global supply chains of leading automakers. It has also been reported that many electronics companies in Taiwan are actively entering the mainland automotive electronics market. After Foxconn acquired Antai Electronics, a manufacturer of automotive wiring harnesses, it began expanding its presence in the automotive electronics sector. The company has set up production lines in Kunshan, Jiangsu, and Guangxi, while Foxconn's Shenzhen branch has established a dedicated department for automotive electronic components. Additionally, investments in Mg-Al City in Shanxi aim to focus on the development of auto parts and component manufacturing facilities, further strengthening the industry's footprint in mainland China.
