How It Works: The unloading relief valve works in conjunction with a check valve to control the pump's operation based on system pressure. When the system pressure reaches the opening pressure of the relief valve, the valve opens, allowing the pump to unload and stop delivering fluid. As the system pressure decreases to the closing pressure of the relief valve, the valve closes, and the pump re-loads, resuming fluid delivery to the system. The pressure at which the pump unloads is referred to as the "unloading pressure," while the pressure at which it loads back in is called the "loading pressure." Function and Application: The primary function of an unloading relief valve is to automatically regulate the pump’s unloading and loading cycles. There is typically a difference between the unloading and loading pressures. If this difference is too small, the pump may cycle too frequently, leading to inefficiency and wear. On the other hand, if the difference is too large, the system pressure may fluctuate excessively, affecting performance. The difference between the loading and unloading pressures is a key performance indicator for unloading relief valves, with the loading pressure generally set around 85% of the unloading pressure. Its overall performance is similar to that of a standard relief valve. Main Applications: a. Used in accumulator systems to automatically unload and reload the pump. b. Applied in high and low-pressure pump combinations to manage unloading of the high-pressure pump when needed. Manufacturers: In China, major manufacturers include Yuci Hydraulic Group Co., Ltd., Beijing Huade Hydraulic Group Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Lixin Hydraulic Factory. Internationally, companies like Vickers (USA) and Rexroth (Germany) are well-known for producing such valves. Usage in Germany: Unloading relief valves are commonly used in hydraulic accumulator systems in Germany. When the accumulator pressure reaches the preset value, the valve automatically unloads the hydraulic pump. A built-in check valve prevents oil from flowing back into the accumulator, ensuring stable system pressure. During this time, the accumulator maintains the system's oil supply, allowing the pump to remain unloaded and saving energy. When the accumulator pressure drops to about 85% of the set point, the valve re-loads, and the pump resumes filling the accumulator. This valve can also be used in dual-pump high-low pressure circuits. At low pressure, both pumps supply fluid to the system, but at high pressure, the larger pump is unloaded and isolated from the high-pressure section. The pressure drop between the valve and the accumulator must not exceed 10% of the set pressure. Additionally, the backpressure at the drain port of the valve should not exceed 2% of the set pressure.
