Knollwood engine on-scene

Jeff Rudolph answered our request for on-scene apparatus photos with a great set of images showing Knollwood Engine 44 responding to a storm-related emergency involving downed power lines. These shots capture the crew in action, highlighting both their preparedness and the challenges they face during severe weather events. The first image shows Engine 44 stationed at a "wires-down" call, waiting for the arrival of the power company to safely address the situation. The second photo captures the unit at a scene where energized power lines had fallen onto a wooden fence and shed located at 1012 Safford Avenue. In such situations, firefighters must wait until the utility company de-energizes the lines before they can proceed with any work. The third image provides a closer look at the apparatus itself. Knollwood Engine 44 is a 2007 E-One Typhoon pumper equipped with a 2,000-gallon-per-minute pump and a 1,000-gallon water tank, making it well-suited for a variety of emergencies, especially those involving fire or water-related incidents. These photos not only showcase the equipment but also give a glimpse into the real-world challenges that first responders face during severe weather conditions. Jeff Rudolph's photography adds a personal touch, helping to tell the story behind the scenes.
