These shots capture the crew in action, highlighting both their preparedness and the challenges they face during severe weather events.
The first image shows Engine 44 stationed at a "wires-down" call, waiting for the arrival of the power company to safely address the situation. The second photo captures the unit at a scene where energized power lines had fallen onto a wooden fence and shed located at 1012 Safford Avenue. In such situations, firefighters must wait until the utility company de-energizes the lines before they can proceed with any work.
The third image provides a closer look at the apparatus itself. Knollwood Engine 44 is a 2007 E-One Typhoon pumper equipped with a 2,000-gallon-per-minute pump and a 1,000-gallon water tank, making it well-suited for a variety of emergencies, especially those involving fire or water-related incidents.
