Knollwood engine on-scene

Jeff Rudolph has once again answered our request for on-scene apparatus photos, sharing a series of images capturing Knollwood Engine 44 responding to a storm-related incident involving downed power lines. These photos give a real-time glimpse into the challenges first responders face during severe weather events. In one shot, Knollwood Engine 44 is seen waiting at a "wires-down" location, standing by until the power company arrives to safely disconnect the electricity. The image highlights the patience and caution required in such situations, as crews can't proceed without ensuring their own safety. Another photo shows Engine 44 at the scene of energized power lines that had fallen onto a wooden fence and shed. The address was 1012 Safford Avenue, and the crew had to wait for Com Ed to cut the power before they could begin any work. This emphasizes the coordination between fire departments and utility companies during emergencies. The third image provides a closer look at the apparatus itself: a 2007 E-One Typhoon pumper equipped with a 2,000-GPM pump and a 1,000-gallon water tank. It's a reliable piece of equipment that plays a crucial role in emergency response, especially in situations where immediate action is needed. These photos not only showcase the dedication of Knollwood Fire Department but also offer insight into the behind-the-scenes efforts that keep communities safe during storms. Jeff Rudolph’s photography continues to provide valuable documentation of real-world firefighting scenarios.
