South China Netcom's domestic Kia "Jiahua" commercial vehicle, initially scheduled for a June release, may now arrive as early as May. According to reports, the entire range of domestic Kia models will be equipped with the V63.5L engine and paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission. Standard features include a DVD system, automatic air conditioning, parking sensors, a smart computer, and cruise control. Industry analysts believe that the launch of the Jiahua could shake up the high-end MPV market, competing directly with models like the Buick GL8 and Guangben Odyssey. The expected price range is around 250,000 yuan. Meanwhile, Volkswagen has announced the official launch of its Chinese version of the Phaeton sedan in May. Priced between 800,000 and 1.6 million yuan, the top-of-the-line Phaeton features a W12 engine – a 6-liter, 12-cylinder gasoline engine producing 309 kW (420 hp) and 550 Nm of torque. It also comes with a five-speed automatic transmission and 4MOTION four-wheel drive. In addition, two other engine options are available: a 4.2-liter V8 delivering 246 kW (335 hp) and a 3.2-liter V6 offering 177 kW (241 hp). These variants come with a six-speed automatic transmission and standard 4MOTION all-wheel drive. In another development, FAW-Volkswagen has launched the Audi A4 1.8T manual and 2.4T automatic versions in Changchun, with a nationwide release planned for May. The 1.8T model produces 163 hp (120 kW), with a top speed of 228 km/h and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 8.6 seconds. The 2.4T variant delivers 170 hp (125 kW), a top speed of 222 km/h, and a 0-100 km/h time of 8.9 seconds. Both models feature Audi’s unique continuously variable/manual hybrid transmission. The CR-V, introduced by Dongfeng Honda, is an urban SUV developed by Honda Motor Co., which has sold over 1.7 million units globally. In China, the imported CR-V has sold more than 10,000 units in the past two years. Equipped with a new 2.0L i-VTEC engine and full-time four-wheel drive, the CR-V is priced at 239,800 yuan.
