Inverness house fire 3-27-13

The Palatine Rural Fire Protection District (FPD) received an emergency call from a local resident reporting smoke coming from a home at 124 Poteet in Inverness, just two blocks away from the fire station. Upon receiving the alert, Engine 36 was dispatched and quickly escalated the situation to a working fire (Code 4) shortly after arriving on scene. As the situation developed, multiple fire departments from Hoffman Estates, Rolling Meadows, Barrington, East Dundee, West Dundee, Palatine, Long Grove, Buffalo Grove, and Prospect Heights were mobilized to assist. Firefighters arrived to find visible smoke emerging from a first-floor kitchen window, and the homeowners were not present at the time. Inside, conditions inside the house resembled those of a well-ventilated structure, with signs of a rapidly spreading fire. Despite the challenging circumstances, firefighters managed to contain and fully extinguish the blaze within 20 minutes. Larry Shapiro, a local photographer, arrived at the scene after the fire had been brought under control. He captured several images that provide a glimpse into the operation. Here are some of the photos taken during the incident.
