Goodyear Launches Enhanced EMTrack OTR Tire Monitoring System for Global Customers

On May 1, 2018, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, a tire manufacturer from the United States, released and launched an enhanced version of the EMTrack OTR tire monitoring system, which has been used by Goodyear customers worldwide.

Eric Matson, Goodyear's global field engineering manager, said: "The updated Goodyear EMTrack Tire Performance Monitoring System allows faster and more accurate collection of critical tire data such as tread depth, air pressure and other indicators." The EMTrack system provides cloud-based data storage and enhanced reporting capabilities through the addition of the new Goodyear EMTrack App. This technology will provide a better platform for mining, construction, quarry and port operators to make more informed decisions on tire assets.

The following is the working principle of Goodyear EMTrack system:

1. Trained Goodyear tire technicians use a special Goodyear EMTrack scan tool for fleet inspections to capture tire inflation pressure, tread depth, and other key measurements.

2. Tire performance data is automatically uploaded via Bluetooth to the cloud-based platform and password-protected storage and easy access.

3. End-users download data to easy-to-read tools and can also be customized in reports to show tire performance.

Goodyear said: "With Goodyear's EMTrack application, users can simultaneously view the collected tire data and reports in real time, regardless of their geographical location, to achieve complete visibility." End users can view performance data for their tires throughout the operation and can account for specific tires, calculate hourly costs, cost per ton, and other key metrics.

"Besides other benefits, this will help end users determine the timing of tire maintenance to help ensure optimal tire performance," said Eric Matson. "The information collected through Goodyear EMTrack can also help predict future tire demand."
