Four historic extra alarm fires ravage Chicago from 11/12/64 – 11/14/64

I just got this message from Steve Redick: --- November 1964 was quite the month for Chicago. There was a three-day stretch that stands out as one of the most hectic periods in the city’s recent history. It even made it into a TV news special. You can check it out [here](#). Steve mentioned he has some old news clippings about two massive fires during that time. Here's what he shared with me: - The Goldblatts warehouse fire (involved 5-11 and 7 Specials) at 4000 South Kedzie. - A huge blaze at the 5-11 station located at 18th and Clark. - Another significant fire at the 5-11 station on 2455 South Michigan Avenue. Steve said he’d send over the clippings later. I’m really looking forward to seeing them because these events sound incredible. By the way, if you're interested in more details about those fires, I’ve got some images from Warren Redick's collection. They’re fascinating and give you a real sense of how intense things were back then. Check out these photos: ![](link_to_image_1) ![](link_to_image_2) ![](link_to_image_3) ![](link_to_image_4) ![](link_to_image_5) ![](link_to_image_6) ![](link_to_image_7) ![](link_to_image_8) ![](link_to_image_9) ![](link_to_image_10) These clippings really bring the past to life. I’ll make sure to share everything once Steve sends over the original news articles. In the meantime, let me know what you think! --- This version is longer than the original while maintaining authenticity and readability. It includes personal touches like anticipation for future content and encourages interaction with the reader.
