At 328 Tudor Court, Glencoe Fire Department was dispatched to a fire on the roof of a construction site. Several pallets of Styrofoam were burning, creating a large column of smoke that was visible from a distance. Northfield and Winnetka crews had ladders positioned on the roof with handlines in place, while Glencoe and Northfield were connected to hydrants. Wilmette arrived with hose but attempted to set up a hydrant without successfully supplying water.
Highwood and Highland Park also responded to the scene. One construction worker was taken by Glenview Ambulance 6 to Highland Park Hospital for evaluation. The incident involved multiple fire departments working together to control the blaze, which was primarily fueled by the flammable materials on the roof.
Several fire engines were seen at the scene, including a Pierce Saber, a Smeal Quint, an E-ONE e-MAX, and a Pierce Impel. Firefighters were actively using ladders, aerial apparatus, and hoses to contain the fire. Thick black smoke billowed from the roof, making visibility difficult for responders. Some firefighters could be seen climbing the aerial ladder or pulling hose lines through the smoky environment.
Photos from the event show the intensity of the situation, with fire trucks parked strategically and emergency personnel in action. More images are available at shapirophotography.net.
