1. The three conditions that an explosion must possess:

(1) Explosive substances: substances that react with oxygen, including gases, liquids, and solids. Combustible gases: hydrogen, acetylene, methane, etc.; liquids: alcohol, gasoline; solids: dust, fiber dust, etc.

(2) Air or oxygen.

(3) Ignition sources: including open flames, electrical sparks, mechanical sparks, static sparks, high temperatures, chemical reactions, and light energy.

Explosives: Many production sites produce certain flammable substances. About two-thirds of the sites in the coal mines contain explosive substances; in the chemical industry, more than 80% of the production workshops contain explosive substances.

Oxygen: The oxygen in the air is ubiquitous.

Ignition source: In the production process, a large number of electrical instruments are used, various frictional sparks, mechanical wear sparks, static sparks, and high temperatures are inevitable, especially when instrumentation and electrical faults occur.

Objectively, many industrial sites meet the explosion conditions. When the mixed concentration of explosive substances and oxygen is within the explosion limit, an explosion will occur if there is an explosion source. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt explosion protection.

In industrial processes, flammable and explosive environments are usually dealt with in the following three aspects:
