From September 12 to 14, for the first time, 12 Chinese rubber machinery companies joined forces to participate in a major international exhibition organized by the International Tire and Rubber Machinery Exhibition (ITEC) in Akron, Ohio, USA. This marked a significant step in showcasing China's rubber machinery on the global stage. Their collective display created a strong impression, boosting the international visibility of Chinese rubber machinery and drawing widespread attention from exhibitors, organizers, and visitors alike.
According to the Rubber Machinery Professional Committee of the China National Chemical Equipment Association, this was the first time that Chinese companies had exhibited collectively, breaking away from the previous pattern where only individual firms participated. The combined sales of these 12 large domestic manufacturers accounted for over 60% of the total revenue of the Chinese rubber machinery industry, reflecting the strength and technological level of the sector. Currently, China holds 23.1% of the global rubber machinery market share, surpassing Western Europe by 7.1%, and has become a leading force in both production and consumption of rubber machinery worldwide.
The cost-effectiveness of Chinese rubber machines has disrupted traditional pricing models and market structures. Notably, 11 of the world’s top 12 tire companies have already adopted Chinese equipment. As reported by the European Rubber Magazine, “Chinese rubber machine companies now have greater influence in market competition.†Industry leaders have reached a consensus on the importance of going global, with the export volume of rubber machinery reaching approximately $73 million in 2005—an increase of 20% compared to the previous year.
At ITEC, the organizers dedicated a special Chinese pavilion in a prime location, bringing together all 12 companies under one roof. This impressive display left a lasting impression on attendees and significantly enhanced the brand recognition and influence of Chinese rubber machinery. According to the exhibition organizers, this was the first time a country had its own dedicated exhibition hall at ITEC.
A press conference was also held for the Chinese rubber and machinery industry during the event. Gu Hongzhen, president of the China Rubber Industry Association, shared insights into the current state and future development plans of the industry. Li Dongping, vice chairman of the China National Chemical Equipment Association, discussed the progress and unique features of China’s rubber machinery sector. These high-level presentations provided the global audience with a clearer understanding of China’s growing role in the industry.
Additionally, the Chinese pavilion engaged in extensive discussions with major tire companies like Goodyear, playing a key role in promoting the expansion of Chinese rubber machinery in foreign markets, especially in North America. The event was jointly organized by the Rubber Machinery Professional Committee of the China National Chemical Equipment Association and China United Rubber (Group) Corporation, marking a milestone in China’s efforts to strengthen its presence on the global stage.
