The application prospect of natural gas desulphurization technology in remotely dispersed wells is good
With the rapid expansion of the Sichuan gas field, an increasing number of remote, small-yield gas wells with high Hâ‚‚S content are expected to come into operation. At the same time, the economic growth of Sichuan and Chongqing, especially in smaller cities and towns, is driving a growing demand for high-quality natural gas. This creates both a challenge and an opportunity for the industry.
Remote desulfurization technology for dispersed gas wells has proven to be highly effective in handling these small-scale, high-sulfur wells that are located far from main pipelines and roads. These wells are often developed to meet local energy needs, such as industrial and residential consumption. Practical applications have shown that this technology offers significant advantages: it achieves high desulfurization efficiency (H₂S levels below 20 mg/m³), features a simple structure, low energy consumption, ease of operation, and the capability for unattended operation.
In this project, a total of 42 desulfurization units were designed, with a combined purification capacity of 149.45×10ⴠm³/day. These systems successfully addressed the sulfur removal requirements for 41 gas wells in the Southwest Oil & Gas Field Branch. The results demonstrate that remote desulfurization technology not only holds great market potential but also brings economic benefits while reducing environmental pollution caused by burning sulfur-rich gas.
To unlock the value of more untapped, remote, and high-sulfur gas wells, it is essential to further promote the application of desulfurization technologies in the Sichuan-Yunnan region, particularly in areas like the Qiannan and Chongqing gas fields. Key steps include raising awareness through effective communication, tailoring design solutions to the specific conditions of each well, and ensuring ongoing technical support for existing desulfurization equipment. This will help continuously improve and expand the use of remote desulfurization technology, making it a sustainable and efficient solution for future development.
