On September 3, Weihai Zhongyuan Shipbuilding Technology Co., Ltd. and Dalian COSCO Kawasaki Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. held a contract signing ceremony in Weihai, Shandong Province. Weihai COSCO Shipbuilding Technology Co., Ltd. built a 300,000-ton super-large tanker for Dalian Ocean Shipping Co., Ltd. in COSCO Kawasaki ( VLCC) provides Haidun ballast water management system, which is another major breakthrough after the successful operation of COSCO Haidun ballast water management system in the early stage and the successful installation of new container ships and bulk carriers.
The physical purification technology of COSCO Sea Shield Ballast Water is the subject of the National 863 Science and Technology Support Plan undertaken by COSCO Group during the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period. The industrialization of the project was praised and commended by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Communications. The five major national scientific and technological achievements are the first independent research and development and independent intellectual property rights in China, and have obtained the first ballast water physical purification treatment system for ocean-going ships approved by the International Maritime Organization and the competent authorities of China. The 300,000-ton super large oil tanker (VLCC) requires a large amount of processing and fast processing speed for the ballast water management system. The fifth-generation Haidun ballast water management system provided by Weihai COSCO Technology holds the national-level product explosion-proof certificate, which has guaranteed safety performance. It has four types of electric system with automatic frequency conversion function, which can reduce power consumption. Special filter and backwash technology can be applied to all kinds of dirty sewage areas; ballast pump has a large flow rate of up to 6000 cubic meters per hour, and the equipment technology has reached the international leading level, which can meet the installation requirements of large oil tankers and other ships.
