Different from other NB-IoT pilot projects in China, Fujian Unicom realizes end-to-end network deployment for commercial use, and possesses the conditions for innovative business models like aggregation of industry partners, development of the Internet of Things ecosystem and data operation. Currently, Fuzhou Water Supply Company has explicitly transformed the first batch of 1 million water meters (including residential water meters and monitoring water meters) into NB-IoT technologies to carry out smart meter reading business.

In early June, Fuzhou City Government, Fujian Provincial Commission of Economic Information and industry chain signed a memorandum of cooperation to promote the NB-IoT pilot in Fuzhou.

With this standardized end-to-end NB-IoT, Fujian Unicom will take the lead in carrying out end-to-end business testing and verification in key fields of application such as smart meter reading to explore new types of business operations and business models and plan to have external demonstration conditions in November this year.
