Chongqing invests 5 billion to promote energy-saving and emission reduction
In 2008, Chongqing plans to invest 5 billion yuan in the "Top Ten Energy Conservation Projects," aiming to save approximately 1 million tons of standard coal. This comprehensive initiative focuses on improving energy efficiency across various sectors, including industry, buildings, and public institutions.
The program includes several key components: upgrading coal-fired industrial boilers and kilns with a 200 million yuan investment, launching a regional cogeneration project with 1 billion yuan allocated, and implementing low-temperature waste heat utilization in the cement industry with 800 million yuan. Another 1 billion yuan is dedicated to building energy-saving projects, while 300 million yuan will be used for energy-efficient motor systems. An additional 1 billion yuan is set aside for optimizing energy systems, and 50 million yuan will go toward green lighting initiatives. Approximately 500 million yuan will be invested in energy-saving and alternative fuel projects, along with efforts to improve energy efficiency in government agencies. Finally, funds will also support the development of an energy-saving monitoring system and technical service infrastructure. This ambitious plan reflects Chongqing's commitment to sustainable development and energy conservation.
